Re: Instructions From the OOTM Adults
Do I need to bring the details for each remaining problem or just the one for Discovered Treasure?

Re: Instructions From the OOTM Adults
From Mrs. Shields: Hi OoTeam!
I scribble furiously during meetings to try to get your great ideas down before they get away. These are my notes from previous meetings (that I can read!) I thought they might help in thinking about which one you’ll vote for, and why. Unfortunately all I got down was just a snippet in some cases, but maybe they will jog your memories. Please feel free to add to this list - I am sure I did not catch lots of stuff. Thanks!
Nature Trail’r:
• Have an evil GPS system steering people to falling off cliffs, etc.
• For transformation: chain saw a giant Winnebago in half
• Each vehicle has a character (both the car and trailer are “alive”)
• Obstacles - trees jump in front of the car’s path
• Guy knocks head and is explaining a dream he had about a forest
• Naturalist is hanging out the door of vehicle and hits a bump, gets knocked off and hits his head
• The trees have trash in their branches; the trees won’t let car pass until it helps clean up
• Trees are maple syrup producers and go on strike to protest pollution
• Narrator is an animal and narrating from animal’s perspective, i.e. he doesn’t know what the trailer or car are
• Trailer could be robotic and funny, like R2D2 - eg. animal comes over and it extends an arm to hit it
• Trail could be African safari, mythical creatures in ancient Greece, or “Jurassic Trail”
Food Court:
• Low-end restaurant confronting high-priced restaurant - “grilling” the other foods
• High fructose vs. regular sugar; the FBI arrives and shuts everyting down
• High fructose is a government invention to grow the economy
• Rocket fuel/ high fructose corn syrup mixture
• Food mistreated at TGIFs
• Food brutality
• Genetic engineering: apple vs. apple flavoring
• Cupcakes are the jury and spell out “Guilty or Not Guilty” on their tops
• Accuser is more unhealthy than accused, like old Twinkie kept alive with preservatives
• Courtroom is a refrigerator; at the end the door closes and the magnets spell out “Guilty” or “Not Guilty”
• Magnets move into position (someone on back of door moving them with other magnets and spell it out)
• Have a set made out of food packages
• Vegetables treated like royalty; sweets dress as vegetables
• “Melon De Generis”
• Beauty pageant to find the healthiest food
• Food decides it does not want to be eaten
• Food is rotting, court has to decide which food “went bad”
• Pasta cooking in pot of bubbling bubble wrap - dance
• “Fudge Judge” “Judge Foodie” “Judge Fruity” “Judge Whopper”
• There’s a little girl that all the food is terrified of - she wants to get something like a cookie, cookies cowering. Difference in scale between girl at fridge and giant hands come in to grab food
• The fridge is the U.N. with the United Plates of America
Discovered Treasures:
• The strange objects discovered in the future are from a foreign Odyssey of the Mind tournament
• Go back in time, so the future is the past
• Encounter black hole so the treasure is sent back
• Entire thing is done in text speak
• “HomeSchooled Musical”
• In the future discovery - FBI crime scene investigation on a common everyday object
• The thing discovered was the earth
• Ancient person drops some item. In present an archaeologist finds the dropped item (like antikythera mechanism) and in turn drops something common which becomes the future treasure. The discoverers completely misinterpret both items, past and present.
• Future organisms have evolved past humans - like sentient birds; birds find an object like a boot and have no frame of reference to identify it
• (Brian has list of possible misinterpretations of common objects)
• Object found is a fiction book (like the Lightning Thief) that the discoverers misinterpret as the way things actually were
• The treasure that’s discovered in the present was in the book
• The treasure is a giant blown-up library full of pages that the discoverers think came from the same, non-fiction book; leading to funny connections. During the course of that book people find an artifact. The last page of the book is missing.

From Mrs. Shields
Hi Odyssey Team,
I just wanted to use your forum to ask everyone DON'T GIVE UP! Yes, we're not solidified yet and yes, time is getting short. But you guys are all so amazing - wonderful actors and actresses, creative, intelligent, articulate, and able to present your ideas in a way that is considerate of your fellow teammates. I know this sounds trite, but even though this year has been different from last, you've already made it a success with the energy and good spirit you show with every spontaneous, every challenge, every meeting.
This is a little bit of a tough one, guys. We don't quite have a clear path yet, but I have absolutely no doubt, NONE, that we will soon; and that you will have a wonderful time and do a wonderful job in the challenge and on "game day". (Not to bring religion into it - but I think I will actually say a little prayer!)
Thanks, everyone, for everything. And please keep on truckin'!
Love from the Coach
